Pilots can, and sometimes do, get their initial certificates (Private Pilot and Commercial Pilot) in multi-engine airplanes. I do not offer this training to private pilots as I believe there is too much going on in initial private training for it to be beneficial. However, obtaining an Initial Commercial Pilot Certificate in a multi-engine airplane does offer very specialized benefits, depending on the goals of the client. First and foremost, getting your Commercial in a twin allows you to build multi-engine time that is required for those aspiring to ATP minimums. Non-restricted ATP's require 50 hours minimum multi time. Doing your Commercial multi, then finishing your Multi-ATP with us, gets you to that 50 hours! Then, circling back for your single engine commercial is a much more simplified endeavor.
Prerequisites for starting the Multi-engine Commercial Pilot Certificate training program are:
The Initial Commercial Multi-Engine Certificate course takes 14 days, where you will finish with approximately 20-22 hours of dual flight instruction, close to 15 hours of ground instruction, and approximately 1.5 hours of PIC time (you will log your check ride time as PIC time because you will be endorsed for solo PIC privileges by us for your check ride. Those who do not have complex and high performance endorsements, will receive them at the conclusion of training, in addition to the typical endorsements required of the check ride and training.
You will also have access to our Multi-Engine training resources, which includes files, videos, and tutorials on how to prepare for your upcoming training as well as the check ride itself. These resources become available to you after reservation of a slot and payment of your deposit for the course.
$19,500 for use of the aircraft, fuel, and all dual instruction. The examiner fee is currently $1,400 for an initial Commercial Certificate, and you will pay that directly to them at time of check ride.
In addition to our flight training, briefings, and debriefings, I provide access to FAA resources, links to informative training videos, and downloadable study guides/prep sheets as part of your training. Click the link below to go to the Commercial Pilot certificate Training Resources page.
NOTE: Client is responsible for the DPE Fee, their lodging and meals, transportation, etc
There are numerous airplanes in the aviation world being used for multi-engine training. Aztecs, Baron's, Seminoles, Seneca's, Diamonds, etc. But we believe the best combination of speed, performance, and complexity are found in the Cessna 310. A true twin engine airplane, we have two 1967 Cessna 310L’s. Click below to get information on the airplane you will be using for your multi-engine check ride.
We are working very hard to develop a robust mix of materials for assisting my students preparation for the multi-engine training. By clicking the button below, you will be taken to the training resources page for Multi-Engine students. Here you will find what I've developed so far. I will be continually updating this page with my own content, as well as additional materials as those areas of need are discovered from training my students.
