The FAQ’s below are for the multi engine training part of my business, most specifically multi engine add-on’s. Please reach us at John@AttitudeAviators.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Once you have chosen us for your flight training, we will get your email address, and pictures of your Driver’s License, Pilot Certificate, and Medical Certificate. You will then be setup in our system and added to our schedule. This will trigger an invoice being sent to your email. You can pay by any of the available options: check/ACH, credit card. You can also pay by cash or Venmo. You may have received this invoice weeks before your scheduled training. While you are welcome to go ahead and pay your invoice, it is not required. However, we do required your invoice to be paid 3 days before training starts. We do this because our checkride dates are a valuable component of these training slots. Losing one due to a student cancellation NOT related to weather or Airplane maintenance is costly to our operations. We often can reschedule a short notice student in a cancelled slot. See our cancellation policy.
If you have prepaid your training, then determine that you need to cancel that training, we will be happy to refund your payment, so long as you’ve contacted us within 3 days of the first date of your training. Refunds will have any fees incurred by Attitude Aviators deducted from the balance returned to you (Example: credit card processing and refund fees the merchant does not return to us).
If you cancel within the 3 days of your scheduled date, then refunds will be given ONLY if we are able to put another student into the slot you had scheduled. This is usually pretty easy for us to do, but it is not always guaranteed. If this happens, we will move you to our next available date rather than require your forfeit your monies paid.
Another refund scenario is when a student is unable to demonstrate they possess the required skills needed to passtheir checkride. See it in the FAQ’s below.
Anybody familiar with aviation training is aware of the ever-present possibility of unexpected maintenance problems with an airplane. We’ve taken every possible precaution to mitigate that risk with our clients by operating two Cessna 310’s, providing not only continuity between airplanes, but also having a backup in the event of an unexpected event. However, having multiple airplanes doesn’t eliminate this risk Completely.
Weather is another factor we deal with in flight training that is simply beyond our control. We train for multiple days, so when possible we will adjust flights and ground work to address weather when we can. Checkride days are set however. If those are busted due to weather, we will reschedule the training and/or checkride.
The same issue can arise if your examiner is unexpectedly unavailable due to a personal matter or illness. In that case we work with everyone to find the earliest date available base on examiner’s schedule to complete your practical exam.
Situations where your flight instructor availability becomes a problem are rare, because I have several MEIs that are available on a standby-by basis if your primary MEI becomes unavailable.
If an event above requires rescheduling your training date, we do a couple of things:
1. We will put you into the next available training slot on our calendar while working to find you an earlier date if desired
2. We work with the examiner to find you an earlier opening and/or put you in position to take a cancellation from either ours or the examiners calendar, should one occur
3. if none of the above is acceptable to the student, we can refund your payment based on our refund policy.
For Multi-engine add-on ratings, the flight time averages approximately 9-10 hours. approximately 8 hours of dual instruction, and 1-1.5 hours of PIC during your checkride with Examiner.
For other programs the hours are similar, but can vary depending on the amount of ground training included. For example, and MEI has similar, but slightly lower hours due to the amount of ground training associated with teaching mock lessons.
In the event an applicant doesn’t pass their checkride on first attempt, I will do the retraining in the deficient area(s), endorse you for retest, and coordinate with examiner your date to retest. Retraining for a second attempt is included in your original cost, if required.
rescheduling for a retest is completely out of our control, and subject to schedule availability of the examiner. Sometimes retests can be done same day as original checkride. Sometimes it can take weeks to find another opening. We will make every effort to get your retest done as quickly as possible.
If an applicant fails their checkride on second attempt, additional costs will be incurred to retrain for a third attempt. This has never occurred with us, and we don’t anticipate you being the first.
I am of the opinion that nearly anyone that has been successful completing the certificates and ratings pre-requisite to our multi training courses, can also successfully complete the multi training. However, on occasion we do encounter students who struggle to find success due to factors such as lack of preparation, deficient base skills, lack of currency, etc.
While it is rare for us to encounter students with areas of weakness sufficient enough to jeopardize their chances of success, we try our best to either find a solution to the problem, or offer alternative to remedy the areas of weakness rather than sending a student into a checkride for a known failure. Examples are rescheduling for more remedial studying, extra flight training time for deficient flight skills, etc. Common areas where we see weaknesses of thus magnitude are:
1. Deficient Instrument Skills - Solution is often remedial training in a smaller less complex airplane
2. An Undislosed Gap in Flight Time Prior to Course - this can be difficult to assess based on total experience, type of prior experience, etc.
3. Undisclosed Motion Sickness - This is a very tough one to handle. Often it’s best to terminate the training with a prorate refund, rather than continue with lower chances of success.
If a workable solutions for student deficiencies isn’t found, we will try to identify it early and offer partial refunds and/or adjustments to training or pricing to reflect the students needs.
This page is password protected. Once you have scheduled your training, I will setup your access using the email you provide me.
No. Our insurance does not allow that activity for our operations. We do, however, offer time building blocks for students seeking to building their multi time. It requires one of our insured MEIs to sit right seat, but is an effective way to build twin hours given the scarcity of multi rentals.
